OSU Capstone Project
2025

Designed and developed by myself and fellow Oregon State undergrad students Michelle and Trenton, our crowd-sourced travel planner platform serves as a comprehensive proof-of-concept for the harmonious integration of experience discovery and trip planning. This project was developed over a span of 9 months as part of the OSU EECS Capstone program, and presented at the OSU Engineering Expo in June 2025.

The primary goal of our project was to facilitate the discovery and sharing of so-called "off the beaten path" travel experiences that would otherwise be difficult to find through traditional means like search engines and commercial travel sites like Expedia or Tripadvisor. To achieve this, our platform prioritizes user-to-user interactions, encouraging travelers to post their favorite activities and leave ratings/reviews on other users' suggestions. Additionally, when users find experiences they are interested in saving for later, they can add them to an "itinerary"—collections of activities that can be organized in a calendar-like interface for easy trip planning.

In planning and prototyping our project, special attention was given to developing a design language that was friendly and accessible. Taking inspiration from popular travel-related websites like Airbnb, Lonely Planet, and Tripadvisor, we created a design system that prioritizes large images, readable titles, and user-contributed reviews. Collaboratively prototyped in Figma before being implemented with React and Tailwind, the result was a responsive and easily-navigable website that enables even the busiest of travelers to quickly find exactly what they're looking for.
